Formed as Fred Lloyd Engineers of Raleigh Street Bootle, Ged Lynch-Smith joined the small company as an equal partner in 1982. A paint sprayer by trade but soon became an intricate part on the running of the business. Having seen the potential of the company he in 1987 bought his partner out, and then started the painstaking improvements and alterations to bring it up to the then present day standards. Since Ged took over Lloyds Autobody it has built a strong reputation for repairing prestige and performance cars, mostly through recommendation. Not content with the improvements, Ged turned to the vehicle manufacturers, the first motor manufacturer to appoint Lloyds Autobody as an official repairer were Saab in 1988, followed by Porsche Cars GB in 1992, also taking on board some of the reputable insurance companies.
As the business out grew the premises a new workshop became the order of the day. In 1995 this came to fruition with the introduction of the new Lloyds Autobody purpose built workshops in Brasenose Road, Bootle.
In 1999 Lloyds Autobody were approached by Porsche to open another workshop, which was opened at Ringway, Manchester in September 2000 as an approved centre, also adding Ferrari approval to the list.
Another two manufactures have been added to an impressive list, Mercedes-Benz in 1999 was the first then the VAG group consisting of Volkswagon, Audi & Skoda in 2006.
Mid 2006, we were awarded the prestigious accreditation for vehicle repairs for Bentley (Manchester). The paint and body accreditation is only awarded to a handful of bodyshops in the UK and is a testament to the high standards of repair we strive to achieve. In all this time the staff have been being carefully selected and trained, to meet the high standards required by the manufacture’s.
